Daftmill Summer 2009 Release 11-Year-Old Scotch Single Malt Whisky

$279.30 $399.00

This is an extremely rare release, with very limited availability.

Only 1790 bottles in the run. Distilled in 2009. Bottled in 2020. ABV: 46%

The barley variety used for this release was harvested in the last week of August 2006; Stored on the farm to be malted in Alloa during the summer of 2007.

Matured in four different casks between June and July of 2009. This is their first release to be aged in both ex-bourbon and sherry casks.

The palate is wonderfully spicy giving notes of clootie dumpling and lemon zest developing into something smoother with toffee notes and Fraserburgh butteries.

The finish is exceptional with the ex-sherry casks really shining through and waves of fresh fiery gingerbread lingering.

Daftmill is one of the most anticipated new whiskies in Scotland. A true farmhouse expression, they grow all their own barley on site (they even supply other distilleries) and have a tiny annual capacity.

The demands of the farming means that distillation occurs during only four months of the year, two in winter and two in summer. The annual output is reported to be as small as 20,000 litres a year.
