Bottle Size: 700ml
Why You'll Love ItThere's a tonne of myths surrounding this lil' bottle of goodness so, listen up. In the mid-19th century, a fellow named Alexandre Le Grand developed a 27- ingredient liqueur from old medicinal recipes obtained from a religious foundation with the help of a local chemist.
Having given it the overtly religious name DOM Benedictine (DOM standing for "Deo Optimo Maximo" meaning "To God, most good, most great"), Le Grand marketed his new drink by telling customers that the monks of Benedictine Abbey of Fécamp in Normandy, were the original creators of the liqueur until the downfall of the abbey in the French Revolution. This, of course, was a load of hooey. Despite the blatant and very illegal false advertising, DOM Benedictine is now popular all over the world.
If you want to give this controversial drink a go, we suggest mixing it up in a Bobby Burns. Salut!
